ok just a quick question if you buy an e book are you entitled to sell it on?

I,m not 100 percent sure on this but would like to know the ansewr myself i am sure one of the more experienced members will come along and let us know i,m actually thinking of putting an ebook together myself

Depends if the author allows reselling of the eBook. Normally it is stated inside the eBook if your allowed to resell or not.

i have emailed one of the sellers of the book and he says i can but could there be the possibility of it being a con?

There are all sorts of rights for ebooks and other products such as scripts sold online. Here are the most common -

Personal Use Only - pretty clear

Resell Rights - You can turn around and resell the product, often within a specified price range.

Giveaway Rights - You can pass it along, but may not charge for it.

Private Label Rights - You can leave as it is or edit however you chose and claim to be the author and sell it, again often within a certain price range. Your customers cannot in turn sell it themselves.

Master Resell Rights - You can not only sell it, you can sell the rights for the buyer to also sell it.

In all cases, where these rights exist, they are included in a file within the zipped copy of the product when you receive it. Here is a sample -

for free only if you own the Master Resell Rights or the Private Label Rights to it).

Master Resell Rights

The Master Resell Rights entitles you to:
- Sell it it any price of your choice
- Sell the Resell Rights to it at any price
- Sell the Master Resell Rights at any price
- Give it away as a bonus
- Give it away as a freebie to others
- Include it in a package

NOTE: You can do virtually anything you want with it. But the only restriction with Master
Resell Rights is that you may not give away the Master Resell Rights to it for free.

You can sell the Master Resell Rights, but you cannot grant others the Master Resell Rights to
it for free.

But if you are a Private Label Rights owner, you may even give away the master resell rights to
other for free. (But again, you cannot give away the PLR to others for free)

Private Label Rights

The Private Label Rights allow you to:
- Sell it it any price of your choice
- Sell the Resell Rights to it at any price
- Sell the Master Resell Rights at any price
- Give it away as a bonus

And also...

- Brand it with your own name and website
- Sell the Private Label Rights at Any Price
- Create your own new software using the source files

You may sell the Private Label Rights to it to others. But you cannot give it away for free.


So, as you can see, it's not a simple answer. And the price you pay for Master will be more than for Private Label, which will be more than Personal.

And you will note it specifically states the file should be passed on with the product.
