Apple reseller documents and paperwork?
Hi,
Just one quick question. On large orders of iPod Nanos (>1K), do you have to be an authorised reseller to get the documents and paperwork from Apple, or can anyone get them?
Thanks

To my knowledge if the nanos were originally from a run the reseller docs would have been provided at the time of the run to the buyer, then they are passed down as the deal is broken up, to each buyer and so on.
No reseller doc's normally means grey imports.
Correct me if im wrong, im not 100%.
Obviously this theory does not apply if you buy from an authorised distributor in your country.

Usually, the docs are only given to the person who is buying the run. Its possible that someone may hand them down to others in the chain who are buying from him/her, but its not too smart. It doesnt make much sense to have those kind of papers filtering around the internet, even at the cost of a sale or two.
Just doesnt help too much...

They would only be handed over after a completed sale, i doubt anyone would give them out that easily.

Re-seller documents are only given out if the seller is authorised with Apple and has all the rights.
Although if you are dealing with the greymarket, you can get re-seller documents without being authorised.

I find that hard to believe, Apple don't approve of importing goods intended for sale in a different country (Grey market) so why would they give doc's allowing you to resell the grey market goods.
Nano's originally from a production run are not grey market thats why Apple give reseller doc's as they are allowed to be sold worldwide.

But why would Apple do this if they do not want sales outside of the authorized distribution chain?
I do believe that PRs can be done, however, how would you get paperwork from Apple? Supposedly, only authorized distributors of Apple products can gain access to PRs, and if thats the case, then wouldn't the pricing be much higher? Ingram is an authroized distributor and they sell to the retail merchants. Are they making huge profits off this stuff? Because we know that the retailers aren't. I doubt that Apple would allow them to make all of this money - they would want it for themselves. Confused.

Ingram buys from a distro in their country and pay higher prices and not from a production run for two reason's i think.
They don't wan't to buy 100k units of each model (a lot of stock!) in one go and keep them in their warehouse, they'd rather buy them from apple as and when they need them. Also they don't want to mess around with run's and brokers as they mostly fall through, they need their stock source to be a 100% reliable supply.

Production runs are always through an authorided distribution chain, grey market goods are not, its the later they have a problem with.
