Your advice for a teen trying to start out
Hello everyone, I'm trying to start out in the business that is wholesale and state laws prohibit me signing up for services like Ebay since i have to be 18, im currently 17.
Whats your advice on how I can get started selling some things for some income I'm really in need of.
P.S-I don't need the income for regular teen things like a new Ipod or a new Cell, I'm really really in need.

Have you the option of off site selling at such places like garage sales or your equivalent of car boots? Can you not use your parents details to get started on EBay (with their consent)....

You could try selling via classifieds, online and in local papers.
Depending on what you are selling you could post adverts in the respective places.

Setup a website, get some local newspaper advertising and you'll be on your way, like the rest of the people have said, ask your parents for consent to get signed up to ebay, though be warned that ebay and paypal take nearly 8% commission at some points combined!
Your best bet is newspaper, carboot sales and local magazines, or via the web.

too be honest I dont think you are any worse of not being able to trade via ebay, set up a small website and get some adds going it might take a while to start making money but it will be worth it in the end.
good luck

To be honest, eBay is the easy way, If you can do it without eBay then your doing well! It takes a bit more effort, but once you get established then your sorted

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, setting up a website would be easy to do but it would be very hard to get traffic, almost impossible. I hadn't thought of selling on classifieds like I could probably do craigslist ad's. I'm hoping I could just start doing Ebay but I rather have some backup ideas.
Appreciated.

Don't forget about things like ebid and amazon, they are all good and have lower percentages they take off you. Also, car boot sales (Search for "car booty" on this forum, lots on that).
Traffic wouldn't be too hard, like I said, your young, you can probably get in the newspaper, classified ads (put your website on them too), whenever you sell something on an auction site, put a flyer in with your website on and setup a coupon system or something so return customers can get discount.
