Default starting a business around a full time job

Hi Just wondering if anyone runs a business around a full time job and if so how do they do they find it or manage it? I am thinking of starting up but need to keep the day job so any advice would be great.

Most start this way, it will be tough and the hours will be long. My advice would be to carefully structure the way that you plan to work your time, it really needs to be at its most time sensitive route.

Allocate times to do jobs, work out roughly in advance how long things will take and plan it that way...can your loved ones help (use it as a bonding exercise), even consider paying your younger family members to do the time consuming tasks like packing etc.

Can you tie your additional jobs tasks in with your full time ones, do you go to teh post office for your company...if so post your own items there to.

A carefully planned approach will help to reduce the time and the stress that this will bring but it really can be done and long term will hopefully be worth it.

It's tough. Family helps out a lot. Very long hours but hopefully it'll pay it in the long run.

I think that is how the majority of people start off in business.
Ebay is a great starting point.

A few hours in the morning, a few hours in the evening will suffice to get you going. As your business (hopefully) develops, you will have to make a decision as to whether you have reached the peak of your time available to spend on your business or whether you wish to take it up full time. Don't leave your full time job until you have a good idea of the direction you are taking your business.

Evenings and mornings - plus popping to the post office at lunchtimes and a forgiving family ! Day job pays the bills and the evening job helps out too !
