I disagree, I still think its really important to at least have a degree.
I dont think you should be encouraging young people to drop out of school because the future is in ecommerce.

I still go to college (engineering), because I believe later on I could combine engineering and ecommerce. (I got a lil thing in mind that I want to produce myself and market afterwards).
And if I would fail in the ecommerce biz, i would still be working as an engineer.

What i am trying to say to the young folks is: get your degree as backup in case you'd fail in this ecommerce biz.

Bsc ICT, although some busness elements mainly ict based. Agreed were talking in a business sense here but the majority of stuff comes with experience although looks good on paper.

sometimes a degree is good sometimes its not, never even bothered looking at a CV if the person had been to Uni. Preferred to have them straight out of school at 16 or 18 and train then up ourselves. By the time they were 21 (age that the uni people were leaving) they could do the job on their own and were making money.....those that could take the pace.
As I say this is just how I and some others in the company did things.

There is more to making money than ecommerce. That is just one slice of a very big business cake!

A degree always give you a back up should the business fail of which many do, however alot has to do with what type of degree you have, if its a common/general degree or a particular profression.

I don't think spending 5 years of your life as a 'backup' is such a great idea.

You would if you spent 5 years in a business which went bust and you had nothing to fall back on but McDonalds or taxi driving.

Ouch Taxi drivers probably earn more than most post grads! I have a family member who is a London black cab driver who earns £60K a year (and that is cash)
