hi there,
for a few months i have been pondering starting a new online business, it will also be an in person business, sellling a niche product. Im in australia , my product is popular here but yet to be exploited online in the form of stores, people just dont know were to buy it. in contrast is in america and europe there are a few website up already. ive been tossing up between .com and .com.au. not sure which is the best way to go. or should i just include "oz", eg . www.ozphone.com, rather than www.phone.com.au. what do you think?

also i know there is alot of information on the website that i have already found. but facebook etc have had influences on the interenet, just wandering if anybody can give me some tips about online businesses etc.

If you're planning to sell Worldwide .com version will be a better choice.

If you're planning to sell only in Australia, go for .com.au as people feel more confident to buy from a local shop (even if it's only a domain name and products you're drop shipping or whatever).

In any case , buy both domain versions and re-direct the one you won't be using for your shop.

Buy both domains, they are $ 10 a year or so. You can have just one site, have one redirect into the other. You can also have whichever the person clicked on at first to show in the browser bar, so someone clicking .com will always see .com and someone clicking ,com,au will always see .com.au, even though they are on the same site.
