Hi everyone. My name is Liam, I'm from Scotland and turning 16 in a few months. I need to collect some money for insurance for a scooter I am getting for my 16'th and I would also like to have a bit more pocket cash through selling items on eBay.

I think I am the type who 'searches for months' because I have been product sourcing for around 2 - 3 months now, and still am at square one.

A lot of people recommended selling junk around my house, which is what I have done - but now I'm out of junk, and think it's time to take a step into investing and re-selling.

What I want.
I would like to make some spare cash as I said before. Just some cash to spend on going out, clothes etc - (No mega-cash to pay bills with and that). I also want to see what its like handling a small business at this age, I fell it would be good experience.

Product?
Here is where I am completely flumped. I have been looking around for about 3 months trying to make up my mind what to do, but never actually done anything. I just need some advice off some sellers that where in my position before. At first I thought of video games, but as that is such a massive market on eBay, Ive changed my mind. These guys make profit on the postage with video games if you ask me.

I have got a few bids on some iPod skins in the 'Job Lot' section of eBay at the moment. Although after having a look at some iPod skins already up, they seem to be going for under £1 - which is crap.

Dropshipping
This has been suggested by a few members of this forum to me, but I fear of being scammed, and most legit sites have registration fees. So again, I'm no to sure if it is worth doing some dropshipping or not.

Intrests
People have said, sell what you are interested in. But for me, the market is full in these areas - Phones, iPod's etc. I would love to be able to sell iPods on eBay - but the competition is just to high for someone like me to start out in.

So, as you can see I am in a bit of a muddle, weighing all these options, and more, in my head. The reason I posted this here was for some help. I have seen members say find it your self and such, but I can't - so I really need some help of you guys.

If you can help me - please post up in this thread, or contact me on messenger/e-mail at liam-mic@hotmail.co.uk

I just need a few words and a kick up the ass from someone who can help me get on my feet and really start up a small eBay business!

Thanks,
Liam.

Flumped? That sounds dangerous. As already stated however, wii fit and wii play are big sellers just now if you can get them

Its more of a, kind of nooby, 'help me to start, point me in the right direction' question.

Thanks to the other guys, I will have a look at some Wii Fit and Wii Plays.

This is a hrad one to answer as,like you say everything you are interested in has been done to death on ebay. Therefore in my opinion you need to start basing your decision on profit margins,if there is truly nothing you are interested/knowledgeable about then your decision will have to be made on profit...and as such you should research, research, research then plump for the product you want and push it as hard as you can.

I for one know how hard it is to find the right product for ebay and it can be very frustrating trying to make a profit...but sooner or later you are going to have to take the plunge!!!.......Goodluck

I feel unsure as well, even though I know what I want to sell (designer jeans, pants). The problem is, I have no idea where to start as far as buying those jeans. I've been working my way through hundreds of posts and links but to no avail so far.

There should be suppliers here that can help you primetime, but i should warn you that if you intend to sell on ebay clothing is the most saturated market there is (.co.uk anyway) often resulting in items not selling or small profit margins!!

That's good advice...I appreciate it. I would probably sell some on ebay but I have quite a few contacts locally that would buy as well. I live in an area where there is absolutely no options for designer clothing.

As far as suppliers, any suggestions of where to start looking for/at them? I don't want to begin by shelling out $500+ if I can avoid it. I'd prefer to start smaller and gradually gain confidence, etc. Thanks.
