Hello all!

I was hoping for some advice! I am currently setting up an Ebay business, and would like some input on Profit Margin... What would you say a good starting Profit Margin would be, Percentage wise...?

To spare any confusion, this question is aimed at any item I might choose to sell...

Thanks in advance!

Dan

Depends on the niche/products but for un-branded (and flipped) products my aim on my websites is at least 100% ROI. But I won't go for such a high ROI on eBay as it's much better for lead generation.

Sell for what you can get for it. Test the water. Why limit yourself to a margin when buyers maybe willing to pay 10 times your purchase price?

Good point... I think that is my best bet anyway! Just wanted a general idea of what everyone else aimed for when they first started out...

Work backwards. If it looks like a £10 product then sell it for that. You may have paid £7 for it or you may have paid £2 for it.

Very true.
You lose nothing by setting a high price dropping the price if required...people love getting a discount.
On the flip side, its bad practise to set a cheap price and then tell your customers you are increasing the price (especially on eBay, where they can all see the price history in your feedback section!)

There are ways to hide the price of your items on your feedback info.

% doesnt pay the bill or fund new products.

When starting look at raw £'s, unless you have a specific product or brand you are trying to establish. You will learn more by ducking and diving, jabbing and weaving.....
