Hi,

I've been want to trade on ebay for sometime now and everytime I find a product to sell it goes wrong.

I've been to wholesalers and bought packs of returns, these sold not making a profit (a loss at that). Next I tried clothing, again not making a profit and getting stuck with lots of clothes. I have also bought from China (DH Gate) which was a total no go as all product turned out to be fake. Great stuff.

I was thinking of buying smaller and making a small profit but selling lots but I just don't know what to buy. I've looked into fake tan, but when ever I find it cheap, its cheaper on ebay. I don't know what to look for next and this is driving me mad!

Please help

Shelly

Welcome Shelly

That is the million dollar question, but nobody is going to hand it to you on a plate.
keep on searching there is a few gems out there and if you stick at it long enough
you will find something to make a good profit on.

Do remember that there is more places to sell than just Ebay

Cheers
Andy

Hiya

I think that what ever you decide to sell there will always be someone on Ebay doing it cheaper, you either have to present it better or do something different, like do the fake tan but add a moisturiser and do a nice package, then there will be no competition and set your own price.

Sorry to hear you have come back off some tough times. Before committing to something else, I would advise spending some time researching your marketplace and the products you're intending to offer, this way you should make a create a better opportunity for yourself.

shelly-
you either need to be the cheapest
or you need to have a USP

so, its awfully hard to do well on ebay as the competition is brutal. Research your product more!!

Makes you wonder how the majority of companies selling so expensively an identical product makes any sales, doesn't it?

Obviously in an ideal world the above quote is Narvana, in reality neither is totally necessary.

Concentrate on deciding what you wish to trade in, then worry about prices etc.

Price whilst important is not everything, many people buy for many other reasons, such as customer service, shipping speed, stock levels, product choice, quality etc all being other major factors. A large number buy simply because they see you at the right time, impulse buying.

How about buying off auction sites and selling it on? General stuff, not neccessarily from a specific category.

And why limit yourself to eBay? What's stopping you testing the waters at Amazon? or Play.com? Or building your own website?

Or even if you've got deep enough pockets renting some space and setting up shop on the highstreet - as well? Price of renting premises is crashing - no harm in investigating.

With regards to marketing, you need to get the right product to the right place at the right time at the right price. Identify a target audiance and try to tick those 4 boxes.

Don't give up!
