Default Better to offer free p&p or charge?

Hiya,
just wanted some feedback regarding peoples own websites, would you say that it was better to offer free p&p and put it into cost of items or do you think it is better to charge seperate p&p?

what works best for you? have you tried both? considering switching?

If you do offer free postage - make it known. Obvious banner on the website homepage.
I think you should offer free postage and include costs into the product.;

On ebay i find that people warm to free postage so i include it in some items as a selling tool.
If the item is hot and relativly niche I charge postage, as it will most definately sell.

Jury is out for me on this one - find both ways are equally succesful - some buyers are attracted to free postage and others just see headline prices

Free P&P on website, wouldn't do it any other way.

I charge postage as soap and wax can soon amount to a lot of money for postage owing to the weight although I have a top rate of £6.50 up to 25kg so I find customers tend to see once they hit 2kg they seem to add more to their basket because their postage rate isn't going to alter.

If I was to add to the products they would look an awful lot of money. I think it depends on the products you are selling really as to which way works best.
