Question Benefits of starting a company!!??

Hi Guys,

Just a few questions on the benefits of starting a company or even just having a company name!!

I am new to this game but hope to get into the business of reselling electronics, with the very little profit margins available on sites such as eBay I plan to sell locally to electronic stores etc and build up from there but I am also aware that someone walking in off the street and offering ipods for sale can look very dodgy!!

I want to present myself in the best possible way! is this where a company/company name can help?? I know business cards and letterheads aren't the key to success but surely they help in there own little way! I know a lot of the people on here use companies house to check people out would it be of any benefit to me if I was registered on there?? or is that pointless for someone starting from scratch like me??

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!!

i personally think contacting a company with a company name will make you look more professional and more reliable compared to some guy... and with a company name, they will know that its not just a 1 off batch of goods but it will be long term...

hope this helps

regards

This is something I'm trying to research myself as I haven't registered yet, my accountant suggested that I should, not only for presentation but legally the company is a seperaty entity from yourself. So if sued and all goes wrong, you won't lose everything like your house, car etc. just company related assets.

this is assuming that a changing to limited company is the same as registering with a company house? pardon me if I'm wrong
