Ive made my first £1000 and Im Chuffed !!!!
I know im gettin a little excited here and many will think a little to excited for the sake of £1000 but im chuffed to bits.
I registered as a sole trader at the start of the year and have been setting of on the long road of internet trading.
Things were very slow to start but over the last few months I really feel that things are growing and my first goal of being able to quit my full time job and take a lesser part time job to free up more time to spend on my business is now on the horizon and edging closer.
Online selling through various avenues and a few avenues away from the internet is the route I have chosen selling many varied items.
My intial outlay ? I started out with £50 and some very cheap and tacky purchases.
As the pot grew the investments got larger with bigger margins.
There are many things I have learn't in a small space of time, but there are a few things that seem to carry me well which I would like to share for any newcomers starting out in business.
Firstly caution: I think at times I am a little over cautious but this is because I am such a miniscule fish in a huge ocean of big players. Im cautious of everything, from suppliers to paperwork, on all aspects of my business I tread as cautiously as possible.
TWF: Not wanting to sound like I am doing a bit of ass licking here but the TWF site and its members has truly been priceless. Yes the forums are good for the occassional bargain and varying stock purchases, however, for me the one thing TWF offers is knowledge. The wealth of knowledge you can tap into is enormous. With its broad range of members all with different expertise in varying fields the wealth of knowledge available is extreme. I never try to stop learning and find that the most interesting of people in life are those you learn from. How privelaged we are that on TWF we have a large group of people who are happy to share their knowledge.
Research: Early days its easy to get caught in what looks like a good offer, dive in, grab it quick, 6 months later still be stuck with the stock. Research, research research.
Drive and Passion: This has been the one thing that has never wavered and has kept me going. I just seem to have the drive and passion to keep hammering on. When you have you set backs learn from them and bounce back. I love what I do. My other role of employment does not excite me yet for the time being it offers me security. The great thing is that my small business keeps me striving forward to achieving my goals and ambitions.
I could go on but im sure I have waffled enough.
I have many new plans and ideas in the pipe line and hopefully my second £1000 will be here a lot quicker than my first, in fact I can already see it coming.
Ive made my first £1000 and Im chuffed.
If that sounds a little sad then tough, because im over the moon !!

Fantastic post. Really emphasizes what TWF is about. Also gives hope to those starting out and think 'is it worth it'?
Congratulations and best of luck for the future.

Nice one SJW - as said before, your story is what TWF is all about.
many of us forget what started the ball rolling and don't appreciate our roots.
