Hey Guys,

Since i started this thread i have been having some ongoing support and advice from a few members off here which means my plans and ideas have drastically evolved.

I now have a business plan together and figures to show what i will be expecting to make within my first few years of my proposed business.

I think that it is safe to say that in this day and age no banks nor trusts are willing to take risks with their money. People who know me will agree this is something i am extremely passionate about doing, for the last few months i have been working none stop at finding suppliers, creating my ideas, finding a website host/designer etc etc, and i am confident that this is something that will be worthwhile. I am not doing the 'norm' i have created something that is rare, better than the two established competitors alrady out there and it is different.

If anyone is still interested in backing up my idea and helping me along the way for the first year i would be very interested in hearing from you. What i would ideally like is people to put their money where their mouths are, if interested and support me along the way, at the end you will receive all your money back plus a profit of whatever my turnover is. I have arranged someone who can help with legalities etc etc. I'm not willing to discuss all here, as most of it i would like to keep under my hat. If obviously i can't get the help i need then i will look at other options, but i have talked excessively with those who i trust on here and they are in agreement its well worth the shot.

Below i have created a few bullet points as to why i believe so much in my soon to be business. If anything below interests you, please feel free to contact me.
  • I will be creating a brand name not just a business.
  • The products i will be selling will have a huge profit, for example one item can be bought for £150, once sold on (after i have done what i am doing with it) it will be sold for £400 ++
  • Prices i have been quoted by suppliers is cheaper than what my competitors are getting them at, which means i can undercut them.
  • I have products that noone else is selling, but they are popular and i have had already much interest in.
  • This will not just be an 'internet business' i will be expanding.
  • Only 2 main competitors out there at the monment and their prices are horrifically steep.
  • I will be offering an affordable way of buying and reselling including dropshipping and wholesale.
  • Once established there are many other avenues i can explore within this business.
The list really does go on. I know some may think that its too much too soon, but i believe. I am more than certain this can be a success with the correct advice, input and support. This isnt something i dreamed up over night, this is something i have been tweaking and running over and over in my head for months. I am not deluded and i am most certainly not one to give up. I am more than determined that this will work. Others have support of friends and family financially, i do not have that luxury, i also do not have all the experience i would ideally like, this is another reason i would like someone on board with me. I am willing to learn from mistakes in order to make something of myself and of my business.

I have contemplated the risks of bringing other people in for financial support, especially because of the recent actions as of late, with some peoples businesses on here going downhill and those involved loosing their money, if anything this had made me feel even more strongly that my business is something that is going to work.

The reason i am needing some help is not just so i can start off, but so i can learn too.

I need things like equipment and stock to get me started and unfortunately thats going to cost a lot in itself.

I am not taking an easy way out, i have tried working for various people off here to gain capital but due to personal circumstances that became something that i couldn't put toward my business. Involving myself in dropshipping seems like a complete waste of time i need pounds not pence.

I was always bought up and told that if i don't ask, i don't get. I am not asking you all to delve into your pockets to allow someone else to succeed, i am asking for someone/people who are serious about investing to give me an oppertunity. I'm not all talk, infact i am far fom it, i can back up with what i say, and for all those that don't believe i hope to see you a few years down the line when i have.

Thank you for reading.

If you wish to discuss further add me on MSN or Skype or leave a PM.

Phone the Business Link. They can help you with anything from business advice,to business loans to local grant funding. If there is any funding available for start-up business they will know about it and can point you in the right direction.

Each area and case is different though and there can be many variables to add to the equation.

Pick the phone up and talk to them and good luck.

Hi Emily and good luck. I've been thinking along some of the same lines but I have a question about dropshipping, (although probably a dumb one), but I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask.

If somebody out there has experience of using dropshipping with ebay - what do you tell a buyer if the dropshipper is out of stock of the item that 'you' have just sold? I know you could waffle and tell lots of porkies but this is not really my style and wouldn't do a lot for the feedback! Is there a better answer?

Thanks and regards Nick

Hi Nick,
I have sold on Ebay over some years doing dropshipping, first thing is to be Honest with all your customers. if you are dropshipping normally you should know how many of the items are in stock that you are selling normally stock is shown on suppliers website so shouldn't run out, even though are rare occassions it has happened to me due to supply stock error on there computer, all i used to do is get in touch with the customer asap, tell them there has been a problem tell them how long it will be for item to be back in stock if they can wait they normally do.if it is a birthday present etc and may e getting close to a deadline they may want a refund.

Honesty Is The Best Policy!!

Good Luck:niceone:

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you have limited funds, then Dropshipping is a great place to start. There are quite a few on this forum that I have used in the past and made a profit (Not massive profits to be fair, but the outlay is next to nothing so cannot complain).

Ebay is a great platform for selling but competition can be fierce, especially in the mobile phone market. I would advise building up your feedback as soon as you have a seller account before trying to dropship. Do a few 99p auctions if you can, have a look around your house there are bound to be loads of bits and bobs you can sell. Might give you a bit more money to re-invest too.

Amazon is also a great selling platform, I personally do =nt sell as much via Amazon, but I do know there are people out there who do, and do very well out of it. Listings are free and you only need to pay AFTER you have sold something. No paypal to deal with either which can’t be a bad thing.

With regards to where to sell, other than ebay and Amazon, well I sell on ebay, Amazon & Play.com. I also do car boots (Again a great way to boost cash flow or get some start up cash when your starting out), recently started selling in small ads papers such as loot and have concessions in small independent retailers. Selling to family, friends and people you work with (if you work) in the early days is always a good idea. One you have settled in to it, your own website is also worth thinking about (using Amazon/ebay/play etc. to drive traffic to your site).

You mentioned gold plating too.....there is a guy in my area who does gold plating for at least 3 of the local phone shops. Basically they advertise the service, take the phone and charge the customer £40. He then goes to the shop 3 times a week, gold plates the phones and gets paid £25 per phone. (Figures are made up...not sure what he charges to be honest) Does well out of it too from what I can gather.

Might be worth posting something in the wanted section if there is something spesific that you are looking for with regards to stock.

Anyway, my fingers are starting to ache now so I will finish by wishing you the very best of luck.
