I would agree with this. Consider the mark up. you can buy a pre -owned game for £10 and sell it for £20 (Maybe more) however a new game with an RRP of £19.99 would cost about £13 plus VAT and 9 times out of 10 your competitors would be selling the same game for £17.99 (Maybe less).

Then consider you coulb probibly buy the £19.99 game for just a tenner pre-owned.

New games are worth having for trade in vale etc but a small store/unit selling nothing but new would struggle to survive.

Good luck.

And FYI, I set up a market unit (indoor market) for about £2000 when I started.

Your biggest supplier of pre-owned games will be your customers.

Another thing to consider is your selling prices. You won't need to sell your Games/DVDs/Blu Rays etc at Internet prices.

All the major Game Distributors/Suppliers all sell (new) titles at roughly the same prices in my experience so its as much about finding a supplier that suits your needs rather than chasing the cheapest supplier.

Also back on topic. I decided a month or so back to walk away from the Grant/Loan as no one could decide on terms. I think that a loan/share option would be too time consuming to manage for the amount of return (we would be looking at a few % each) and the grant idea was rejected by all interested parties.

even possibly order cheap online and sell at retail price?

as for the grant funding idea you was on to something there it's just ashame really but as was pointed out there where alot of legalities that would have got in the way. guess we will all have to just carry on "buisness as usual" and let people find there own way into buisness.

Note to everyone. the way i did it was very foolish and i am lucky to be able to have succeeded. however tempting a payday loan is.... DON'T DO IT! lol

Looking to raise funds for a new venture in software, the future is exciting in it and I've consulted with designers about basics of the deal. If any of the guys that wanted in eary days here ar interested or anyone new, feel free to PM me for further details.
In this case I'd be offering investors a % of revenue in return for their extreme support, because I'm still studying and can't commit to this idea 100% financially myself because I have nothing to commit with.

Are people still open to this idea? I have a propostion that I would like to put forward if anybody is interested? I would be looking for the investment but it is possible the complete £1000 would not be needed. Instead the costs of my idea would be down to the following:

Domain Purchase
Website Design
Good SEO campaign
Advertising through leaflet distributiton/targeted mail

This is what I would need help funding with but as you can probably gather all is available on the forums. So how about instead of people giving money they provide their service to be helped in return for a percentage or something along those lines or their business info would be available on a "special thanks" section and provided to advertise as well through the business success.

Let me know what you think as I am in a postion where I have no funds to set up but I have s detailed plan/design scheme for production so I have thought about it quite a bit
