Default Going round in circles

I'm trying to start up in business as a sole trader. I plan to be selling computer components online, first via ebay and then from my own website.

I started creating a business plan but hit a stumbling block when I needed figures. I need an account with a wholesaler before I can get some! So I need to be trading before I can buy stock.

How can I trade by selling computer components if I can't buy them from a wholesaler? I can't buy from a wholesaler until I start trading.

I realised I would nedd the business set up first. I have decided on Sole Trader for now because it doesn't require any initial oulay that trading as a limited company does. I've also decided not to register for VAT, again, the initial outlay .

I brought the .com and .co.uk domain names I need. I haven't set up a website yet because I have no stock to sell on it! I've designed a logo and letterhead and had some printed.

Then I tried the wholesalers again. I filled in an online application form for one. They wanted them faxed back to them. No fax machine. I phoned them and found I could email the documents to them. I asked which needed to be sent back to be sure. 2 signed app forms, *check* 1 letterhead *check* one phone bill in the business name. Ah. I will be working from home to begin with (the wholesaler seemed to have a problem with that also - my plan will be to get premesis when I have more capital) The phone is in my dad's name, which is conveniently my name too but it has to be in the business name.

Stuck again.

One thing I have done is apply for a business bank account. As I did this just after sending off the application for the wholesaler, I told the bank that they were going to be my supplier! So essentially I lied to the bank!

Any advice would be very much welcom before I bang my head against the wall

How do I buy stock from a wholesaler which I can sell for a profit as a sole trading business start up?

I would start with Cash and Carry wholesalers, the IT distributors have a lot more requirements before opening a wholesale trade account.

Check the For Sale Marketplace on the forum to see what stock is available.

Here's a list of computer wholesalers from the trader magazine.

You will find wholesalers will mainly require VAT reg for an account for a lot of the main stream stuff.

If you drop me an email i can give you some good wholesale pricing.
