Hello guys - im very new to this website and found it by chance. This is my first ever post so hope i do correct protocol.

Im sure many people dont give away trade secrets but can i ask about peoples experiences and there thoughts on how i am currently operating as a "small part time business"

Basically i found a few decent places in the UK where i could get returned clothing at a decent percentage of the original shop price - so after abit of consideration i decided to register as a sole trader (i actually also so work full time - so find it very time consuming to find the time visiting the warehouses and listing etc), I sell my items on ebay.

After 3 months into my venture i have made a reasonable profit ( around £700, however for this i have sold 213 items, this on average means i have been listing 213 items divided by around 13 weeks = 16 listings per week.... so when you put things into perspective i have worked very very very hard and probably made (based on 213 items) just over £3 profit on each shirt/t-shirt/shoes i have sold - therefore it doesn't look at all impressive for the amount of effort/time ive spent listing, taking photographs, travelling at weekends and doing the day to day things associated with ebaying..............if im being perfectly honest im doing it just to earn some much needed extra cash.

Do people find its better to buy items in wholesale which reduces the time spent with the admin side such as listing etc... or do you think there is some decent money/reward in carrying on visiting these suppliers and hoping to drop on individual bargains which then require listing individually?????

I hope my question makes sense and i apologies if its very long winded.

There is quite a difference between both of those.

Any long term business requires a consistent supply source, you don't always get that if you are focusing on individual items picked up more by chance than anything. Without a doubt creating a long term and viable business through consistent product lines will prove more fruitful but in the short term if you have the opportunity to dabble in varied markets there is the opportunity for immediate gains.
