Default T.H.E. account & product question

I just opened a cash-account with THE (the.co.uk), received the letter with the account number on it but no online login details, requested the online login details on thursday but have not heard from them ever since.

It said somebody will email or call me shortly and as I read another thread here on the forum, THE are not opening new accounts anymore so I was wondering if that meant no more online-accounts (e.g. thats why I have not been contacted with the login details)? or am I just impatience, how long does it "normally" take to receive login details?

Secondly I would like to know if I can order the products online with a cash account, reading through the terms it says cash accounts can VIEW prices online while it says with a credit account, products can be ORDERED online. So does that mean I can just view prices but have to call in to order or do they have some kind of onlineshop available to order??

Also I read somewhere that it costs about £350 a month to receive the THE product/price list everyday. I hope I don't need that for the £100 minimum order with them.....


And lastly I would like to know if THE also supply Posters (Movie/Music).

Somebody who has/had an account with THE would be kind enough to answer these questions for me??

well I posted this saturday night after reading another thread about THE not accepting new accounts anymore, so their office was closed and now its sunday, same story.

So I assumed since this is the supplier discussion forum I might ask other people a few question about this supplier and get a straight/quick answer instead of waiting till Monday until THE open their office.

When I called them a few weeks ago they said they are not opening new accounts because they are being bought out. If you call tomorrow please let us know.

Then I replied saying that this was nothing new, they had already been taken over in September 2006, also your post in that thread was rather cryptic.

Just got my password and in the email it said:

"As a cash or credit card customer your account will display "I'm sorry at the moment your account is suspended. Please refer to THE accounts department, this is there due to a limitation of Cash/Credit accounts to stop order being placed on the website.


You can access all functions - order tracking, dues/back order checking. You are able to check stock availability by entering the Cat No/ISBN in the search field and then pressing 'Search' button."

Well, I guess I'm just allowed to check prices and then have to order via phone?!

Yes, that has been covered in the other THE thread, seems a little bit odd if you ask me.
