Sorry I misunderstood.

So the costs you are refering to are domestic costs from the point of landing to delivery to your door? If so then that sounds about right. There are abou 9 seperate charges for this and that which amount to about £250 and then the transport delivey costs to your door.

I was under the impression the costs were for the China side.

Try http://www.seawing.co.uk/ in future they are very good and very helpful.

Hi.

First of all, i have only very quickly browsed through this thread.

My question is... do people have a tendency to state that some wholesaler websites are not legit in order to scare others away?

I am not making accusations within this very thread. I have though, read a few other posts/threads or whatever you call them, & have spotted some neg feedback towards legit wholesalers, IE, stating that some of the attire being sold are fakes! Just curious.

People have different citeria for vetting suppliers. Some are over cautious and something small like they only accept TT payments will trigger 'scam'. Some will do theie homework. Some sites will be an obvious scam.

Hi greedyboy,

Thanks again as you have cleared this up for me and I appreciate that. Below is the list of fees I have been quoted...and being a newbie I did not know about these costs. I thought all I was going to be charged was customs clearance and delivery. I asked several companies for quotes just for these, which also varied alot. Are the charges below determined from the shipping company and therefore are fixed now. The ship comes in 2 weeks, so I may have time to sort something else out..... or would you just leave it at that??!! It's the terminal fee which is alot.

Quoted costs:
Terminal Handling-Sou 46.90 w/cbm- (mine is 3.9cbm=£182)
Delivery Order 28.00
ICD Presentation 13.50
Port Security Fee 3.00
Documentation 15.00
Delivery 100
Customs Clearance 55.00
Deferment use 15.00

In the future is it best to use a company that have offices in China and in the Uk and do the whole door to door process with them?

Thanks again.

Those charges do not look too bad to be honest. If I was you I'd shop around and compare a few prices just for your own peace of mind. An hour spent on the phone and every few quid you save is a bonus.

The beauty is you have now done it once and know what it is about so next time you can get prices yourself for each aspect of the process.

The funny thing is you will notice, the actual shipping part on the boat is probably only $150 but it's the little charges that add up!

Good luck

Doesn't £100 for delivery seem expensive?

I have called and emailed about 6 companies in the last few weeks, as I stated to get costs for delivery and customs clearance. The best was £95 for delivery and £45 for clearance and the worst was £295 for delivery!!!! and £65 for clearance. They also wanted to charge me £20 to get the pseudo number which you can do for free. Therefore the quote from Bronel is ok in comparison.

The order is 32 cartons, 750 kgs, 3.9cbm (a medium sized transit van capacity is 4cbm) and 1.5 hours drive away so in terms of hiring a van, petrol and loading etc, it works out just as cost effective to get it delivered for £100 without all the hassle of trying to collect and load and drive the goods myself or my partner, and only if he is not working, which may not be the case. Then if something goes wrong you end up paying loads for storage at the port so can end up costing more.

As you said greedyboy once it has been done once then I will look at the whole process and know all the charges involved, as other companies do not mention all the other costs I will still have to pay these if I transfer the clearance and delivery to them and save a few pounds only.

Yeah, it's all the extra charges that have amounted to £412 which I hadn't taken into account, but still ok in terms of pricing and good to know for the second time.

Many thanks.

Better to try a smaller order first.. but too late now I guess.

I am not sure if these suppliers a legit or not, but on there website all looks ok!

"Hong Kong owned and operated" is a good sign! Mostly Hong Kong people are MUCH better than Chinese.

Still need to check deeper as they too many products in their catalog and most of the items are produced in south China... believe me, that is a little bit strange!

Chinavasion for example is just dealing in Electronics with local factories here in Shenzhen.

The reason for this is quality control, production control and talking to the suppliers in person.

This is the way how business is done her in China.

Please let me know if you have any problems with smallvolume and I can investigate here on the China site.

But be careful, something looks just not right, even if their website looks good, doesn't mean the company behind is good...

Greetings from China
Rose
