Actually, it is not the credit card companies that are the problem. It is the gateways / processors who decided to issue full credit or to retain the processing fee. Some even charge the fee both ways, for the sale and again when the credit is issued.

This is not VISA or MasterCard, it is the people between you and the card companies who make these charges.

I do feel that you should eat those fees. If you stand to profit off your customers when things go properly, you should also be willing accept a loss WHEN YOU CANNOT PUT TOGETHER A GOOD DEAL.

You should be willing to pay a cost when you handle someone elses money and cannot fulfill the agreement, you are perfectly willing to take their money when things go right.

You want to stack the deck in your favor, so you never have to sustain a loss, even though you customers have to.

It must be nice to have a business where you never have to worry about losing anything, even when you put together a bad deal.

but if smallvolume is guilty of that, then would you say the same too about gateway providers out there? After all, they are the ones who keep the fees after a refund is done. Smallvolume doesn't put deals together. The buyer has the option selecting any vendor he/she chooses and feels confident with. We try to faciliate the process between them the best way possible. Most trades work out well, some might not, unfortunately. But I'd like to understand why you feel smallvolume deserves to take this loss rather than say, the gateway providers? Isn't smallvolume a customer of gateway providers too? thx

You have to shop for gateways, just as you have to shop for suppliers. They all have their own ways of doing business.

As I mentioned, some charge both ways, some charge on the sale but don't credit on the refund and some credit the fees on a refund.

I admit these are things most people are not aware of, even after they get a merchant account - unless and until they take the time to truly analyse their monthly statements.

It is also information that is seldom provided on the sales pages of the processors, other than maybe the ones who do offer the full refund may state that fact.

So, smallvolume might do some shopping for a new gateway. Not for me to say.

As far as taking the loss, no one guarantees you a profit each day. If you pay rent for an office, do you charge them back for a portion of the rent for the day the deal fell apart? That's a cost of doing business, just as gateway fees are.

Pete, great info. Never knew such gateways existed. The ones where they credit you back on a refund. I'll pass this info on to the right people. Now that would really be win-win for everyone. Thx again..

It takes some searching.

There really are some people who do right by their clients, you just have to dig deep to find them.

Default i pay for something and i get something different

My experience with SmallVolume.com .
I order on 17 april 2008 one ATV ( vpatv 110F-1 small ) from Smallvolume.com .
In the web site description have 110 cc and tire dimension is 21x8-8 (F) 20x10-8 (R ) , and i have confirmation from the smallvolme staff that the description have right .
After 3 month i receive my atv , but with 48 cc and tire 19-8-8 (F) 18-9,50-8 (R) and without mirror ,
speedometer , signal lamp ...
I sent mail to smallvolume to return the difference of money from atv model with 110 cc to atv model with 48 cc , but they don't respond my mails .
Be care! what you buy from web site and dont belive everything they say in the mail without have the documents .
Best regards !

Default SmallVolume

Hi!

I have bought stuff from SmallVolume - once and on samples. It worked pretty well except that none of the items I ordered were what I ordered, but all changes were approved by me.

Now I have another order in and paid and they seem to have shut down their website this weekend. A little bit worried, but they have been actively responding to my queries and the last order was delivered very well.

Hi again, I wonder if anyone is reading this thread anymore?
Anyway, I have now "been in business" with SmallVolume for a while and everything has worked very well. I get excellent service from their staff and prompt replies to my questions. I am very satisfied. Looking forward placing another order in next week.
