Recently looking through the forums i have learnt that many people say that the only way to purchase items such as branded/authentic Nike shoes/PS3's etc is to contact the manufacturer in question directly, ie placing a massive order from sony to get the real PS3's.

But with this thinking does that not mean everything must be purchased from the brand name directly? If you want branded clothing then you must go to the brand name such as CK/Polo etc, Is there no way in finding the manufacturer which produce the items for these company's and place a order directly from them instead of going to the brand which may save money i believe.

Could someone please clarify, because im unsure as to the whole concept of wholesaling now...Because if contacting the brand is the case then we must have to deal directly with the brand of every product? it would be quite easy to find the local supplier in your town/country for any product and place a big order (assuming you have the capital to put in) but it surely isnt like this is it?

For example, i recently had a very good idea about a product which does have a very large name and very good potential sales but not to the extent like PS3's/Phones etc So i went on the search for a manufacturer which provides this item. Searching through sites such as alibaba/tradekey i filtered out the 'company's' which simply threw in this products name along with a long list of what they supply, ps3's/phones/laptops/ipods etc (the usual scammer stuff) soon i found a few 'company's' which seem very professional in every way and had me 110% convinced this way the real deal and i could begin starting business with them - everything seemed legit, the way they speak, emails, website etc (dealing with scammers in the past clearly made this supplier stand out). They only sold this product so i thought if a company is ready to only claim in supplying one product rather than a range of the branded stuff they must be legit. After a few queries and emails i found most of them to be fakes/copies but as usual 'high quality' i have been advised to place sample orders but i would prefer not to sell fakes.

Now im rather confused as to how i would find a manufacture for any branded good.

I must be wrong somewhere in here so could someone please help me out.

Thanks in advance

Many of the Larger manufacturers supply only to specific distributers who in turn supply the larger stores. Smaller retailers don't get a look in.

However look for clearance companies, selling end of line, re packaged or surplus stock. Many clearance companies buy damaged and returned stock which i imagine isn't what you are looking for but there are certain ones who have good relationships with the larger manufacturers and get hold of large quantities of new brand named stock then usually knock it out to discount stores e.t.c

It may be difficult to find constant supplies of a specific line but many of these clearance companies have enormous buying power and buy 100's of thousands of items at a time.

I know because it's what i do

Hope this is helpful

I see, but it may be a bit hard to find those suppliers, i will keep checking

And another example is this one;

I was looking for Gillette Fusion Power blades (8 packs) and contacted a website who offer various wholesale supplier info, with a membership of course, he said that due to the amount of scams you can only find the authentic thing from Gillette itself, therefore isn't that the case with PS3's and Air Maxs'

thanks
