Hi ppl!
Just a newbie! Got contacted from Nigeria on Alibaba by Comfort and Mark Investment, Ltd. I've been trying to find some info about them on the net, but nothing came out. In the same address direction another company is held "Ocean Gate Limited". Contact persons, phones and faxes are totally different.
They are asking to come to our factory to sign the contract before even of having any quotation, I dunno what to think.
Any info about them? What should I do to avoid scam?

No doubt it will involve parting with some money via Western Union before they arrive to sign the contracts (which they have no intention of doing!).
Draw your own conclusions.

I am actually a LEGITIMATE seller on Tradekey (silver membership) and I mainly deal in the distribution of Nokia Mobile phones. I agree that these websites are loaded with scammers, and it makes it almost impossible to do business. I originally paid for the membership because I saw so many inquiries looking for these mobile phones, and I figured even if I was able to do a couple of transactions it would more than pay for the membership fees. However it seems like its really a "newbie playground" with people telling me that my prices are twice as much as what the guy in China is offering. Its loaded with people looking for $200 iphones and $150 PS3s and Nintendo Wiis.
As a seller of electronic goods, I really wouldn't recommend these sites, and I probably won't continue my membership next year. If you push authentic goods, even at good prices you won't be able to compete with all the scammers with their "Gold" memberships and counterfeit scammer prices. Its just sad to see all these people wester union their hard earned money away. Oh well the way I see it is their way of learning from the school of hard knocks. I know I got scammed when I first started in this biz, it'll definitely wake you up and make you stronger if it doesn't completely destroy you.

Based on my experiences....when it comes to 'Clothing' & 'Electronics'.....Alibaba is definately not the place for these two major categories.....

You wont find branded goods on alibaba and if you do they will be genuine prices where there is little or no romm to make the kind of money you think you will.

Agreed, you are very likely to run into scammers on Alibaba. One of the bad things about the net is that any old criminal can have a go at stealing now. I dont hink the anonymity helps either.
