Hi
Has anybody used Ingram Micro as a wholesaler? Their website terms state minimum business purchase of 9K per year. But cannot see nay prices. Are they competitive?
Thanks

By just looking around their site it is clear they are a major outlet for the main retailers in britain when it comes to electrical products.
I must admit I had never heard of them, but 9k min order per year isn't very high at all..
With regard to their prices, one can't find any prices until you have signed up for a resellers account.
Might be worth doing that if you are serious about purchasing from them. Otherwise you could always email or scout their website for more indication on their prices.. Normally the major wholesale companies will be able to give you a quote on the product(s) you want and in what quantity quite easily..

I should also add that should you not have trade references and are not a company, sole trader or other you will be unlikely to get an account. As having those separate you from being "just another member of the public" rather than "trade"..

I got an account with Ingram Micro. It cost me $100usd and I had to fill out a lot of paperwork, but I got it.
In short, their prices are *WAY* too high. You can buy the same items, new in the box on ebay for less. And if you are hoping to buy bulk lots of stuff from Ingram and resell them on eBay for a profit, forget it right now!
And the really bad part, is that a membership in Ingram Micro is just the first step. If you want to buy Apple products, for example, you have to be an official Apple reseller, or you can't even get a quote. Also, for example, if you want to buy Thinkpads, then you have to be an official IBM (or whatever the new company is called) reseller. They have a very lengthy list of all they companies you need to be an official reseller for in order to place an order.
I checked on iPod nano's, $235 and none in stock! Assuming, of course you were an official Apple Reseller!!!!
A waste of $100, in my opinion.
Gary
