Default China Suppliers Dealing with Customs

Okay well maybe somebody can add to this and make the information more usefull -

I have recently began getting goods from China, like clothes, jerseys & shoes. Everything was going great at first. I was getting what I ordered within a week and I was very happy because I was able to come through on my orders to my customers. Lately my items have been being held in customs. I had 4 pairs of shoes that were held in customs for 10 days. Once they finally came to my house I was charged customs fees of $36.00. I wasn't too bothered having to pay $36.00 snce my profit margain was so high. The problem I had was that most of my customers had collected back tey're money by then and out of the 4 pairs of shoes I was only able to sell 2 of them.
I have been speaking to a lot of sellers in China and they say October is a big month for import/export and suggested that I wait till November or what she called the "Peace Season" to place orders. I am not sure if that is true or not but I sure hope it is. Currently my items are being held in San Francisco customs. The Chinese supplyers have agreed to pay half of my customs fees and I thought that was cool.
I have also heard from supplyers that JFK customs is easier to get things through and they offered to end my items there and then have DHL pick them up and over night them to me.

Is anyone else having issues with customs right now?

Apparently your suppliers are not qualified enough in China.
1. I'm sure they are selling replicas or fakes to you, this is why your goods have been detained by your customs. For instance, you can buy replicas of Nike shoes from China at around 13---20 USD per pair but you can sell at 130--1000 USD per pair in the USA in name of authentic one. Only when your goods are fakes or exported illegally can they be detained by Customs worldwide.

2. Some Chinese companies do not have an Export License in China and some even do not register at local government authorities, but they can ' export ' anything to you via some Express companies like DHL, TNT, Fedex etc. Their exporting channel is not right in China and it may be confisticated by China Customs when your order is large enough. In this case, your suppliers will disappear in the air and bear no responsibility after you pay.

It just depends. If you are talking about US customs, it could be what the guy had for breakfast that morning, your stuff could have just got lost in a corner or, what could very well happen, it may have been mixed in a container with some questionable stuff and the whole batch set asside.

By container I mean the large boxes they load small packages in for air transport. This can also happen when sharing a sea container.

Customs is a crap-shoot. You should always give yourself some lag time when promising deliveries.

jessedee ,

You sell replica shoes ? such as NIke?
If so I wonder why the Customs just charge yuo some duty then let your shoes go ? Normally if the Customs find it is fake, they will confiscate it . Today I just send 2 LV bags to my customers as gift by EMS, but EMS refuse to mail the bags. SO I only try Fedex now . I just worry if the US cutoms will lawsuit me for the fake LV bags ?

Yeah they delivered my 4 pairs of Jordan 11's right to my door. I had to pay $36.00 for the delivery. I talk to people about this and really it's the SF customs who everyone has issues with so either they have a lot of stuff and my stuff is being delayed because of that or they are doing they're jobs. I called the customs folks down in SF, they said not to worry and that I will get my package, it's jsut that they are really backed up. It's been 10 days since the item was received there. The shoes took an additional 10 days. I heard Chicago and NY customs are really cool and they don't BS with you're orders. I guess we'll see. As far as I know everything I order is legit and authentic. On the websites I order from they never talk about fakes. So unless it's said or I can tell I will continue to get my goods through China... Why not? I get a great deal... Thats like saying I will stop buying from Wal-Mart, who coincentally has alll their stuff made in China. Things that make you go hmmmmmm??????????????????????

I'm sure they are selling fakes or replicas to you, otherwise, it cannot be detained by Customs.

I don't think you understan. i still get my items, they jsut take long because of all the other fake crap out there. Everything I get is 100% authentic. I know, because i have worked directly with the supplyers for major distributors in the USA. So don't hate, congratulate and answer the question at hand.
