Suppliers of PS3 & 360 games
Hi all,
I'm new around here but don't worry, I don't expect you all to start throwing your suppliers details at me, I know that I'd have more chance getting blood out of a stone
I would just like some advice if possible...
I was just wondering, in the UK would you say the majority of online traders (especially Ebay sellers) of PS3 & 360 games import from abroad or will they have good suppliers here in the UK??
I have recently read a couple of the price lists for imported games which look reasonable but then I worry about import duty and VAT etc which would probably take the actual costs up to around the price you'd pay from an online seller anyway. I know the profit margin is slim on games anyway but I can't get my head around importing and profiting on games OR finding a good UK supplier at the moment.
I am looking for profit margins of about 10%-15%, would that be correct?
Does anyone have any advice that they would be kind enough to offer?
Many thanks
Andy
PS I've noticed PTGames is quite reputable on here so once my post count hits 10 I will be contacting him for some advice, but if anyone else can offer some in the meantime that would be great!

Complete rewrite - in fact, I wish I could delete posts once made, sometimes.
Sorry, Andy, I misread your post to start with. You were talking about games and I was answering about consoles, a completely different matter.
These have been discussed lots of times around here, so browse some of the old posts on the topic. You'll see some excellent advice (mixed in with some not so good, but that goes with the open forum territory) and even some good suppliers. You've picked one out already and there are others who are members here, too.

Reason: I misread the question

I take it this is your own site then?... Not much help to me at the moment, unless you stock and supply the latest PS3 & 360 games, but thanks anyway.

Well spotted, Andy. Sadly, we do get our fair share of business owners lurking, posing as those innocently offering "independent" advice about their own offerings.
A good sign of the value of those offerings, is it takes just thirty quid to become a registered seller for three months here, and not all that much more for six months. What kind of service are you likely to get from someone who is prepared to evade even such small dues?

If you do that, you'll soon see that there are people making a profit on consoles and all the stuff that goes with them, but it's not easy, so the more you read the better.
We read a lot more complaints about how hard it is to . . . this . . . . that . . . . the other . . than folk telling us about their successes.

OK, thanks.
I'm not complaining, I know how hard it is and did fully expected it to be.
I have been reading quite a few posts on here but not really found the info I was looking for so far, hence the specific questions. I know people make profit (obviously), but was just wondering if the people making profits on the games generally imported or had UK suppliers, so I know where to concentrate my research....... anyway, I'll keep sifting through the threads.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,
Im afraid I haven't got the time to reply properly now, but I sell games and had the same questions when I started.......exactly the same questions actually. If you can wait until later I will post you a proper reply which will hopefully answer some of your questions.
Speak (type) later
Justin
