Verifying Chinese Company
I'm currently in the process of buying some items (HID car headlights) from a supplier in china. I'm just trying to make sure of the suppliers authenticity at the moment and was hoping a few of you could help.
My first question is about a sample product, what method do the majority of you usually use as payment for a sample product? I obviously want to have a bit of backup by the use of a credit card or similar but wasn't really sure what the normal procedure is for a sample product.
I have been reading through a lot the guides on here and whilst I knew about most of what was suggested I still had a couple of things to check. It says to check about the company registration number or similar. My question is that if you do get such a thing for a chinese company is there anywhere online you can check this with to verify it?
Finally in the 5-steps guide it suggests contacting the bank with whom the company is based to verify their details, but as the company is based in china there is an obvious language barrier so I was wondering if most of you bother to check this with chinese suppliers?
So far I am relatively confident they are a genuine company, but obviously can't know for sure. I have tried the normal checks of googling their name but the only things this turns up is more adverts for their company on various trade websites (and there are hundreds of their adverts), similarly if I put their name in in chinese it only turns up adverts on chinese trade websites. I have also checked the details of their website on whois and it all seems to match up with the details they have provided me with.
Any help would be much appreciated as I know there will be a quite a number of you on here who have gone through this process plenty of times.

The Chinese company should have the following documents:
1. Company Registration Certificate
2. Export License
3. Factory Registration Certificate
For Banking documents, ask for Certified copy of audited balance sheet of last year.
There`s very few english resources to verify Chinese companies. You can trying searching the Chinese yellow pages at http://www.yp.net.cn/english/search/searchForm.asp
The whois information for a website should be registered to the company name.
You can also hire www.sgs.com to do a factory inspection to verify the company.

Thanks canada. I'll ask him about them - are they usually ok about showing you copies of them or do they normally just provide reference numbers?
On the who is it shows the following:
Registrant Name ................. chu xiaokang
Registrant Organization ......... xiaokang chu
On their website it shows the owners name to be James Chu, is that unusual for it to be in someones name rather than the organisation? I also checked the yellow pages but nothing came up for them.
What would your opinion be on the payment method for a sample?
I know some of this may be pretty basic stuff to you guys but we all start out somewhere, lol. I have bought from china before but it has always been through guaranteed secure sources so this is a bit new to me.

I found the website for the company "Haiyan Daan Auto Parts Co, Ltd." http://www.daan2003.com/contact_e.asp
They will probably ask for payment by western union or T/T.Do not send payment until you verify the company.

I got some documents sent through from the company today but just hoped one or two of you may be able to have a quick look over them:
Document 1
Document 2
Document 3
I realise you can't tell for sure if they are legitimate documents or not but any opionions from some of you who have a bit more knowledge of what these documents are normally like would be much appreciated.

Documents are pretty useless as it could be company identity fraud.

I agree, I received documentation from a company that I was eventually scammed by. Think about it like this, if I pods etc. are counterfeited, what do you think could be done to a document?
I would try to get some history of the company doing good business with others in addition to doing other checks to establish whether a company is legit or not.
