Default I am start a wholesale site I need some help!

I have literally built and destroyed 3 sites this week. They just didn't "feel"right. When you go to a wholesalers site, what is it about the site that makes you want to spend money there. What makes it look 'legit'?

I am able to sell the 20gb PS3 for as low as $230 w/ shipping and made a good bit off craigslist, and able to take secure paypal/credit card payments and such now and will continue to when my site is up, but I am afraid that something about my site will throw people off, that and that I am selling for a relatively low price and a very HOT item.

If I put maybe a video on the site with all of my poducts in the video and tag them with my name and site address will that work?

What was it about your current suppliers site that drew you to them? Would you use them if they didnt take secure payments?

The main thing is getting a website up and running. Start getting traffic there first and worry about how it looks later. If you're selling to business they shouldn't be as fickle as the general public anyway.

osCommerce is always a good start.

How are you able to sell the ps3 for $230?

If you have a hosting account with fantastico just install CubeCart. You can be selling the same day.

Don't worry about the looks, you can modify that later. People are used to the common cart configuration, header across the top (you can replace that in 5 minutes), left column with categorues, right column with cart totals, etc. and a center for your products. Nothing fancy and you can be selling right away.

Get your goods and your shipping and payment methods set up and you might find you don't have to change the looks of the site. Of course, you will have to get traffic to it, no matter what.

Totally agree with Pete. Although I'm new I already have a domain, suppliers and I installed CC a few days ago. So easy to use it takes half a day to set up.

United States. Why? Is there a law I need to follow for US based ecommerce sites?

Thanks man, I am building my site on the osCommerce platform. I dont know what all it can do as this is my first ecommerce site, but I figured that anything that it cant do can be expanded with mods, or I can code it since I know PHP. I can generate 500 uniques per day and 1k per day in visitos in 2 months, but I dont want visitors, I want buyers. You know?

I'd rather have 50 visitors and 10 buyers per day than 200 visitors and 2 buyers.

And DM. I will look into the CubeCart I dont know if my host has a new version of fantistico

Thanks guys.

You can easily download CubeCart from their site and install it yourself. Basically two steps - set up a MySQL database and upload the files to the server.
