Default Lesson to all members on a typical scam

don't fall for this either paying deposits or giving L/C's when a seller is willing to have stock sent to a freight forwarder for inspection all they should require is the proof of your funds.

Never ever pay deposits or give L/C's there are lots of scammers making a killing on these methods believe me we recently have 1 million GBP's worth of stock freight forwarded to the UK from Italy inspection all went well the sellers asking for us to pay but they wouldn't give us the release papers so we told them to stick their stock.

And we do know of a company that lost over 1 million GBP's by letter of credit "L/C"

And low and behold we later found out the so called sellers didn't even own the stocks so now if you can't learn from that then i suggest you get out of this game whilst you can or you will if you use these methods lose big time.

If I would have a 1 million GBP, I would go to that supplier myself and sleep in that container :-)

Andy777 good point yes the only way really when dealing in such large amounts of cash is to visit the suppliers in question and arrange your own shipping.

we always pay 30% deposit to factories in China before they start production of an order. This is normal practice and I think you'll be hard pushed to find a factory that will take an order without a deposit.

Pablow, how do you get scammed when paying by l/c?

Also, for any reasonable value, you should inspect the goods, anyway!

Am I missing something here, but surely the company that sent the stock over to the UK is the loser.

So you think you can't get scammed by L/C well your wrong and on the point of paying 30% upfront before a production run yes thats fine if you have visited and can trust that manufacturer.

No but the point of this thread was just to warn members that both L/C and deposits are not safe unless you fully trust your source.
