Default GIFTS OF LUXURY gave me a refund !

I just received a refund check from them. After posting the original thread regarding my belief that I was scammed, I got a call from them last Friday. The guy was actually very nice and very straightforward about their situation. I explained to him that I hadn't heard anything for weeks and figured I'd been scammed and he understood. He explained that his supplier got seriously backed up due to a massive iPod recall and on top of that, his wife just had a baby. He said he never intended to delay anyone's refund but he gotten a massive influx of emails from people claiming they'd placed an order and demanded their money back, etc. Sorting out the legitimate claims from the scammers was slowing him down. I've also since gotten several PM's from people who also said they got a refund from Gifts of Luxury - it just took some time. This guy isn't a scammer - just a series of unlucky events.

Also, since one of my business partners is the District Attorney of a top 10 city, we had (weeks ago) gotten in contact with the FBI and the Bronx District Attorney to arrange next steps. Since then we've contacted both, explained the situation and dropped any further investigation. Interestingly enough, the woman from the FBI said there was an xbox 360 recall that led to a similar situation for them.

This guy clearly just had unlucky timing and is trying to catch up. The people emailing fake refund requests DEFINITELY aren't helping matters. I would just be patient and wait....He's a reasonable guy and I actually feel bad for him after talking with him and hearing his situation. Sometimes you've got to wait before you can see the whole picture...

My partners and I just received a refund check in the mail today as well. Seeing as how others have gotten refunds as well, I'm going to go ahead and say that we've been refunded by GOL before we attempt to clear the check. If it bounces, I'll come back and let everyone know, but I have to agree with the series of unfortunate events (so to speak) explanation for Luis and Gifts of Luxury.
