Just out of interest something I was think of, how good is the affiliate tracker?

For example the people we refer, if they make purchases via Trader newsletters, emails does this get credited to us???

How does clickbank recognise this as these people joined because of us?[/b]
All tracking on my affiliate program is carried out by Clickbank. If you send a customer to the Trader Online site via the correct affiliate link, then Clickbank will drop a cookie on that visitors computer with your affiliate details. If that visitor proceeds to purchase a product from the Trader Online site within 90 days (I think that is the time limit CB work to), then you will get the credit. Note that this does not include the Private Site since Clickbank are unable to process subscription payments and as such, none of my membership sites are included within my affiliate program.

If a visitor subsequently subscribes to my free newsletter and I recommend a product to them, then no, an affiliate won't receive a commission unless the product is one of my own as sold on the above website. In this case, unless the visitor has deleted the Clickbank cookie, then yes, the affiliate would receive the commission.

Also I personally think worth the wait, and referring people, I have also referred people to Richards Site maybe just as many and to date I have made .......:* Zilch[/b]
At the end of the day, the only reason that people will not make money by sending traffic to any proven product is because the product is not relevant to their audience. Basically, if your customers have no interest in my products, they won't buy - it doesn't matter how many you send me.

I know my products sell since I make my living from them but if your customers are not buying them then you need to find a product that is more relevant and more likely to appeal.

Over the years I have promoted various affiliate programs myself - all for excellent products - some sell, some don't. That's just the way it is. If everyone bought everything it would be a very easy game

One other thing to consider is that, for an affiliate program to work for you, you need to be sending reasonable levels of traffic to the site in question. I am not sure of your affiliate details but the only affiliate account that resembles your information has sent my site a total of 21 clicks.....

Cheers

Richard

Hi,

Slightly more than that, but point being I know my buyers have registered as forum members that says there is an interest, I will obviously not mention usernames.

So say I refered 30 people and 5 sign up for the Private Site then the affilite gets nothing as it is a subscription payment?

Again not worried about it but I wonder if any referred did?

Still again, I will put this to bed now as I am not overly worried at all, but it seems clear that the affiliate scheme is not as clear cut as thought, still you are a nice guy and I am quite happy to keep the Rolls Royce in Petrol ROFL !!!

Thanx

The affiliate program has always been operated from The Trader Online site. Up until last month, there was no Private Site connected with this site.

There has never been an affiliate program for either the UK or US Trader Private Sites and I have never claimed that this is the case.

Whilst you may have referred people that have become forum members, this is a free service so clearly no affiliate payment is due....

The affiliate program is very clear cut - any referrals to the Trader Online site that result in a sale of one of my products from that site will earn you a commission (except for the new Private Site which was launched last month).

Sounds familiar.. who asked you for that? There used to be some company called Meteor Online who had mobiles at prices far below anyone else.. crappy website hosted on Tripod which never got updated. The prices seemed far too low to be genuine so I decided they probably weren't.

Hi, I am sure you all know about this already and it isn't a long term solution to suplies but currently there is a good opportunity to pick up mobile phone vouchers from Avon/Orange which entitle the holder to a free PAYG phone with orange (Simens A55 or equivilant if out of stock), or (this is the better bit possibly), £50 off any phone retailing for over £99 with orange. You are able to pick up these vouchers for approx £20 but they end on 30 April and can only collect one per customer (so they say). Some profit to be made if dealing in phones? Am I allowed to say I do have some vouchers if anyone is interested but I am sure you already know about these?

I have contacted a contact of mine from China (Gold Supplier Status) regarding importing mobile phones.

I am awaiting a reply and will forward this onto anyone interested.

Trust me, there is practically no profit margin in latest model, sim-free phones.* This has been discussed on the forum before and it is simply the way it is.
Richard,

That statement is not necessarily true, I agree that it isnt long term as the price gets driven down quickly(very) but if you get in early enough then the profit is there.

For example, you may remember me selling the Motorola Razr V3 just as it launched. We had the stock 6 days before the main high street retailers got full supplies in in volume, in that time we sold 40 units at £95 profit which wasn't bad given we only advertised the offer via ebay and customers we knew were interested in the model.

I also agree that finding the correct supplier (wholesaler) is difficult and to get the best prices bulk purchase needs to be used, ie. we wouldnt have made £95 per unit if we bought them singularly.

I also agree that the way to make money from them is the contract route

Ok, let me quantify my statement a bit....

99% of people will find it very difficult to make a decent or worthwhile profit selling new release, sim free mobile phones because there is too much competition.

Sure there is always an angle that allows a handful of people to make a bit of money but most people will not be in a position to take advantage of this (for whatever reason - lack of contacts, lack of experience, lack of sufficient funds).

Therefore, it is not a product that I would recommend any new trader start to deal in.

How's that? :-)
