Default Anyone Tweeting Product updates?

Perhaps the perfect medium thanks to it's real time updates, does anyone use Twitter for marketing their wholesale business or even simply keeping clients up to date with stock info?

The concept of simply sending an '@hardwareheroes - any more 8GB mp4s' as opposed to faffing around with email (soo 2006..). For dropshippers in particular, this could be a great medium for keeping members updated. I know I'd like it!

Incidentally, it's worth registering your companies name on Twitter, in case someone nicks it. Check out 'South West Trains' http://twitter.com/southwesttrains

the hardware heroes quote is definitely a nice idea depends on how interested people would want to be updating stuff on line all the time. Also as far as im aware good site designs can e-mail out stock low reminders to customers who want to know about it to so would be a lot easier to run a business this way than tweeting with every order processed or when stock gets low.

I do feel there is probably something to be made out of it....but as with all these networks sites ive always felt them to much hard work and just to much effort by spending more time replying to stuff that has not alot of reason being there apart from to fill space in time.

Last time i checked using facebook as a medium they are charging if your using it as a business is this the same on twitter?

I use Twitter in one niche but I'd say that it's not that great, user base is still relatively small and it's more for personal use than business. Maybe it works better in tech/gadget related niches as customers are more tech savvy.

But sure - as an instant, 100% deliverable communication tool, it's great!

Like on here?

The point is though that product updates and little details like shipping status can be tweeted quicker than perhaps by email/forum pm/even a phone call? If some of the folks on here are dealing with hundreds of sales and dozens of enquiries everyday, does everyevery second count?

can you really say that the reply is any faster tho? as its only like sending a email? except you know people will check there email a lot more times a day in some cases than there twitter account. I think it can be used effectively in tech communities like gaming communities but dont think its quite so cut and dry. I dont think shipping status is a thing tho if people buy from a site the carts normally do all this for you so your having to go another medium to send the same thing wasting time lol

definitely like here to much accidental time talk of that Nealy 10am doh!....

I am planning to use it to get customers to follow me so I can alert them of special offers etc. when my retail website goes live.

I will be offering special twitter codes for %off.

I'm hoping this will work.
