Pete,

You are correct. Many large brands will not allow their products to be sold on eBay. Even smaller brands will not allow it. They fill that eBay devalues their product line with the auction setting, even with the buy it now.

However, you can still make money selling online away from eBay. There are people who are willing to pay the extra money as long as you build a nice clean site and show honesty, sincerity and trust.

There are many times that I personally have purchased something for a little more than buy it on eBay and there are many out there like me.

Tisha,

Thank you for the input! Its nice to see WWB visiting our forum!!

Unfortuneately, most folks, when wanting to start an Ebay business, look to the "hot" items to sell. These include Ipods, gaming systems, cell phones. You are correct in stating that you must have manufacturer authorization to source through the appropriate channels, however, when those hurdles can't be crossed, most sellers source gray market goods. Most of the big mobile phone sellers on Ebay, for example, are selling phones not intended for sale in the US. So we end up having a huge demand for these products from resellers, and elusive supply. You'd think someone would've solved that problem a while ago.

Most of the smart sellers eventually figure out though that competing in these areas is futile. You are better off finding a niche and selling "everyday" items to that niche. This is where WWB can be an outstanding resource!

Just my two cents.

Hello,
I 've ordered WWB full membership. BUT I am disappointed. After login a i've found around 180 electronics "large volume" wholesalers and nearly all of them don't ship overseas, in particular to europe?! I deem, WWB suitable only for online -resellers, dropshippers located in the USA. And not for european entrepreneurs, especially who would like to resale offline -locally.

Here's some insight on salehoo - http://www.salehoosucks.com/

If you're looking for sources click the top link in my signature below. You'll find more than you will ever need.

And you've seen my thought on WWB above. Good, sincere folks, just overdone.

Like Scott said, Salehoo and WWB are two different companies. Actually, Simon Slade (Salehoo owner) is a member of this forum (hasn't posted in a while though).

Both Salehoo and WWB contain decent suppliers for ordinary products. I wouldn't use either of them to source electronics or clothing however.

Tisha,

I am thinking of using worldwide brands. I will be selling online but not through ebay in the UK primarily. Do you have many sources that would supply or are located in the uk?

Tisha last posted in this thread about a year ago, so I doubt she will respond.

Although most of the suppliers listed in WWB are US-based, many will ship internationally.
