Hello,

Wanted to forward a suggestion - let me know what you guys think.

There should be a feature where sellers are allowed to close their own sales thread.

This will save the moderators a lot of time, as they won't have to open each sale thread and see if the seller has asked for it to be closed. The idea I'm suggesting will allow the requests to go directly to the moderators instead of them going through each thread.

Now some might say that giving this sort of power to sellers isn't good when it comes to invalid reasons of closing threads / bad transactions etc, therefore there could two ways in which this feature can be implemented / used:

1. Allow any seller to close their thread by editing their first post and clicking on a "Close Thread" option / link in which a valid reason must be given to why the thread needs to be closed. A moderator will then review the reason / thread and take the appropriate action.

2. Allow sellers who have had an advertisers member for X amount of days (up to Anthony to decide on the number of days) to close their threads without a moderator having to review the reason why. But, they would still need to provide a valid reason.

I personally prefer option 1.

Im sure it would save alot of time for the mods and also the seller. But my only concerne would be what happened with infernoshouse were he deleted every comment he made about delivery on the cheap.

This feature will only allow the thread to be closed.

The removal of posts would still need to be done via reporting.

I presummed that the Mods had somekind of search method where they just searched for the words "please close thread" seeing as everyone puts this or similar when they want it closed.

I cant see them having to search through all the threads but im sure Anthony will let us know.

I'm pretty sure that the permissions cannot be set to just have te ability to close your own sales threads, it's either to close threads or not to close threads which would give the option to close any (not restricted to one section or person), that is of course unless things have changed since 3.8.3 in the software or there's an addon script which can be installed (or I didn't know how)

Im sure its a good idea, but it would need a coder to implement this as its not available on a standard VB script as far as I know.

From what I remember, you can do that in the Admin CP with the users permissions ...

EDIT : found it :

in the Admin CP

-> Under "Usergroups" Clic "Usergroup Manager"
-> Then, Edit "Registered Users"
-> Under "Post / Thread Permissions" Section
-> "Can Open / Close Own Threads" Change to "Yes"

... I can even uploads screenshots if you want!
