Dont get me wrong I dont like the thought of pirated games on the market as we found it bad enough with the dvds but fitting the chips is in such demand we have to go for it.
Also it does give us the option of the NTSC games.

It is not forbidden to chip any console. Like others said before, it's just the problem, if the games you're playing are pirated, I think it is the same law in the whole EU.
BUT NOTE that the warranty of the product is no longer valid as soon as the console has been opened!

in the uk and the us it is illegal - think it was modchip.co.uk that was taken to court over the use of modchips and originally lost. canada it was ok but the canadian modchip store is saying that the law is changing or has changed already over there. Over here Sony took an independent shop owner to court for selling prechipped PS2 and the judge basically threw Sony out saying once the console is sold by you, you have no legal right over that console anymore.
you are not even supposed to sell R4DS or similar in the UK - stupid law if you ask me, I know piracy is a problem and thats what these are mainly used for but people are just spending the money in other countries anyway and getting them.
although someone did recently win a case or something over use of modchips in UK, this was on the sites about 2 weeks ago but not seen anything else about it since.

I can get you the mod chips if required. WiiKey, D2C Key and a few others, drop me a pm with what you require.
Nothing wrong with modding at all.

I'm afraid you are all wrong (except Costa) they are illegal in the UK. They officially are classed as a circumvention device that illegally avoids ETMs.

I dont think that the court case means that they are allowed, would have thought each one would be evaluated separately. What this means is that charges against this man have been dropped but does not mean that it is legal and am pretty sure that the government will not let it become legal.Too much pressure from Billion Dollar companies.

It’s always been a grey area as far as I’m concerned. While there is a lot of money to be made, I’d much rather spend £20k on stock and know Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or whoever isn’t going to release an update the next day which deems the products useless and therefore unsellable!
Looks like you got it OK over in Spain though Costa!

Its ok for the moment mate but obviously these companies have some serious muscle so would not suprise me if we see a change soon. Spain are starting to come down hard on people downloading with an announcement yesterday that offenders would lose all rights to broadband if they disobey the law. Thing is with the chipping over here its quite big business, the company that we are importing chips with has 200 Wii's in their shop to be modified and thats without PS2, Xbox's etc.
