Yiwu, has a bit of a reputation in my sector (toys) for being wild west bandit country! I have been there a couple of times and just felt that it was too unreliable. The stuff coming from that region is cheap and it shows, the quality is just not up to scratch and even the chinese say it is scammer central!

Obviously this is for toys and not furniture so I cant really comment as I dont really have knowledge of that market but from my experience you are much better off dealing with people in Ningbo which is about 250km from Yiwu as this is renowned for producing wooden items.

    Good luck

    Vicky :)

I might be interested in this if you can get the products I need. I guess they would be classed as specialist toys. I currently import from the US but know that they are manufactured in China.

hi Vik, I agree with Vicky.
Yiwu trade show center is full of low quality products, and also those people there are not so honest. But factories around yiwu area can be good. When I worked with germany company Kaiserkraft as a sourcing manager I tried to source products from there, but I couldn't find anything close to our quality standard.
Generally speaking, for furniture I recommend you to go to Foshan, Guangdong province. You can find all office furnitures, hotel furnitures, joineries there. But for home use furnitures you can go to likou, in suzhou city. There they have a large furniture center with quality products.
Ningbo area as mentioned by Vicky, is an area of injection moulding products. You can find plastic chairs there.
If you want to find your particular product you will have to go through a whole sourcing process, search, quote, sampling, factory audit, quality control during manufacturing, QA before loading container. Lots of details involved.
Pardon me for my poor english, but I really hope I helped.
PS: I'm Chinese located in Shanghai, China,

    Hi Tornado,

I'm not sure what kind of toys you are looking for. For RC toys I suggest you go to shantou, fujian. All RC toys are made there. Factories are located around the airport. But be aware of the unlicensed products, especally those RC cars. RC toys solded in Yiwu or any other area are producted from shantou.
For RC hobby products you will have to go to shenzhen.

    I hope I helped:D

    Hi Vicky,
Thank you very much for your heads up. I thought this is a free communication forum. I'm trying to offer my ideas from years of sourcing experience here, and want to make some friends. I will keep that in mind. Sincerely thank you again.

    Kind regards
    Evan

I'm definitely interested in a sourcing agent.

Not sure what your time frame is for getting this up and running ?

    Hi Vicky,

Im looking to get a good supplier for top quality clothing stock - for my own brand using mainly my own designs/small additions to existing items.
The problem being starting out it would mean low MOQ, est 100 per colour per style is this something you might be able to help with do you think?
It might be that you could put me in contact with a factory in China which might be helpful, or take a commission on the goods I buy?

    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Not something I can help with at the moment. Having a baby has pushed my plans in that area back quite considerably.

Clothing is not really my area of expertise and to be honest I dont know of any clothing factories that will accept such a low moq, I am sure there are some out there but your best bet would be to try alibaba, global sources etc.

Sorry I cant be of more assistance.

    Vicky :)

I too would be really interested in your idea,
I am just getting started and don't have the nerve to trust China sourcing,
after reading an awful lot of posts on this forum it makes me wonder whether I should just stick to a UK wholesaler instead :)

Hi, I know this is an old thread, and that you were busy having a baby (I know how that can change plans ;) ) but I was wondering whether you ever went through with this?
I am very new to this, but am looking for a manufacturer for an 'invention' and your expertise seems to be in the right area. Even if you are not doing it professionally, I'd like to get in touch in case you have some advice?
I have posted a thread introducing myself where I explain a bit more about myself, and am happy to explain further.

Hello, I am presently looking into paying someone in the UK to personally visit and verify certain UK companies, I am not sure if this is the intent of this thread so if not then can anyone help lead me to any sourcing agent in the UK please?
