    Hi,

I'm in the shipping industry and I've got no idea to be honest.

Any unclaimed containers would still be under the control of the relevent Port or Shipping line, who would probably sell the contents off to recoup losses, but hard to say where you would look really.
If goods are not customs cleared they would after a period of time be seized by HMRC and go the the Queens Warehouse.

I went to one of these, bought a lot of goods that did not have the vat and duty paid when they landed here and liked it so mucht that i moved to China.

I really dont think you will find out where they are online though, very much a closely guarded secret by those in the know for obvious reasons.

Sorry i cant be more help but a close friend of mine does this as his main line of income.

Happens more often that you might think. Often it will either be a case of the buyer having financial problems so can't pay the shipper or freight forwarder or perhaps an issue with the order. The problem is that once you are outside of the rent free period (usually 5-7 days), while there is a dispute going on, or someone is trying to raise the capital to pay the bill, the quay rent and demurrage charges start mounting up on a daily basis and it can eventually get to the point when its cheaper for the importer to abandon the goods than pay the bill and sell them.

as a frieght forwarder yourself do you just offload abandoned loads to your pre existing contacts
is this wide spread across the industry that abandond stuff gets sold on to a small set of loyal contacts

If we ever have any abandoned goods we will usually either approach one of our own clients who we know would be interested and customs clear in there own name, or for smaller lots or perhaps more niche items we will customs clear in our own name and try and sell on.
