So here's my problem, when packing orders, sometimes I pack an item individually (1 barcode = 1 unit), but sometimes in multiples of 5pcs (therefore it would a small box but with the same barcode on the outside ....5pcs within)

What I seek is a scanning solution where, I can either tell the scanner "ok, each barcode I now scan is 5pcs" OR "ok, each barcode I now scan is 1pc" ...what I don't want to have to do is scan a box label 5 times (time consuming & prone to error)....so what type of scanner/solution do I need?

Look at using ITF14 - carton barcoding - if my memory is right, it is EAN13 with a 0 at the end. Whether your inventory system can work with it is a different thing!

Many thanks...I've investigated it - not a lot of info out there - but more importantly, unless my supplier adopts it, then it's heading nowhere :-(
