    Hi all,

I have been adding my business details to some of the leading free UK business directories - Cylex, Freeindex, Business Magnet, Lacares etc but I wonder how productive this actually is. My (limited) thinking is that the more times my business name appears the better but will Google etc see these as good links back to my website or just spammy rubbish. I try to make sure that the content I upload to each site is unique so I am not duplicating content. Here is my listing on Cylex - http://robertsbridge.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/risus-wholesale-toys-23828295.html

Also does anyone know of any other good directory sites that are worth listing on other than Thompson, Yell etc?

    Hi Vicky,

It really depends on what you're doing it for.

Some of the links you'll get will be 'do-follow' links which means Google will count them towards your SEO score, and some will be 'no-follow' meaning they won't have any SEO weight.

That being said, it will help create a diverse link profile (which is a good thing!)

A crucial thing to remember - especially from a LOCAL SEO perspective is to keep your NAP (Name, Address and Poscode) listings exactly the same on every listing.

    Continuity is key.

Any variation in the way your address is displayed could have a negative affect - and cause a load more work fixing it later!

    Hope this helps!
