Can you use Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites to promote your eBay listings? Sure you can!

Even though eBay restricts sellers to include their Facebook and Twitter pages on their listings, eBay allows and encourages sellers to promote their items using social media. According to eBay, sharing your items for sale with social networking sites and your community of friends is a powerful way to drive traffic to your listings.

Aside from their existing Social Media Selling page, eBay has developed an updated best practices guide that now includes topics on Pinterest and Blogging.

If you think this is another basic guide, take a look at the advanced tips and techniques that include using third party tools like bit.ly and hootsuite in measuring your social media success.
More importantly the guide provides a good introduction to social selling, addressing common mistakes sellers make. This includes being a hard sell, not having a plan, and spending unnecessary amount of time with their social media tasks.

In fact, eBay conducted an experiment with 8 sellers who did not have previous experience in social selling. Each only spent 30 minutes a day using social media and gained favorable results. Watch the video below:

    Enjoy! :)
