Facebook will be opening its biggest engineering hub outside the US on 2018. This will create 800 new jobs in the UK.

The seven-floor building at Rathbone Place, near Oxford Circus in central London, will accommodate engineers and developers as well as marketing and sales teams. I will also house a dedicated incubator space for start-ups, called LDN-LAB. This is designed to help UK-based startups to kickstart their businesses. They will be invited to take part in a 3-month programme.

According to Nicola Mendelsohn, Facebook's Europe, Middle East and Asia vice-president, said the company was "more committed than ever to the UK". She said Britain's "entrepreneurial ecosystem and engineering excellence" made it an ideal location for technology firms.

Facebook's decision to expand in London was a "sign of confidence" in Britain, said Chancellor Philip Hammond. He added, “The UK is not only the best place to start a new business, it's also the best place to grow one."

It's great to see, that despite Brexit having forced large businesses and companies to move elsewhere in the UK, or abroad, that this hasn't stopped Facebook from doing so in London. That's an extra 800 jobs created - fantastic!
