Following growing criticism and concern over H&M's UK clothing size for women, the retailer has now decided to take action and update their sizes.

For many years it seems, my wife, and women have taken to complaining about their experience whilst shopping at H&M, with most of the complaints being "the clothes are far much smaller than other retailers."

It has been reported that the H&M UK size 12 (EU 40) is actually being labeled as an EU 38 (size 10 UK), meaning an entire dress size difference.

The Swedish retailer, Hennes & Mauritz, have confirmed they will be adjusting their women's clothing to the right size, with in-store stock beginning already, and working towards their online store.

a spokesperson for H&M said: "This will be a gradual process and we cannot confirm when this will 100% complete.

“The new sizing is in effect already in our stores and shortly will be online, we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible for the customer and we urge customers to try on garments and check the measurements for guidance."

This does mean that it will of course be extending to all of them female clothing measurements up to size 36 in their plus-size range.

Perhaps other retailers should start taking note as well, as these sort of issues can seriously be detrimental to any woman, no matter what size they are. The way the media is constantly portraying a "perfect ideal" puts a tremendous amount of pressure onto women, (especially young women) these days, encouraging them to try various amount of dangerous diets to gain a Photoshopped impossible to achieve body.

Nonetheless, a great defeat and great move forwards in the right direction for H&M.
