I did some good business a few years ago on Amazon and eBay buying bulk from China and selling on (after researching best sellers).
I don't like that business model anymore, but I want to start selling again, but this time with my own site.

Trouble is, when I look for any niche items/areas they always seem to be flooded....
There are literally pages of the same things selling on Google.

Sooooo....am I supposed to compete with the big boys? Or am I supposed to find something so niche that theres hardly any competition?
    Is there room for everybody?

This is the fact, nowadays, it's quite expensive to get a lead and not mention that turn it into a real buyer. You have to pay more than it used to be to run your business, otherwise, you gotta pay much extra time to do promoting stuff.

Forget about a simple Importing & Re-selling model - it won't work in 99% of cases.

To succeed in eCommerce in 2019 and beyond, you have to build BRANDS, market brands using modern communication channels and then you have a chance of succeeding. You still have to be very good at this BUT at least you will have a chance to make it work unlike with simple buy/re-sell concept where you have no leverage whatsoever and lowest price will win at the end.

You can still of course manufacture/source goods in Asia but they must be part of your BRAND strategy, not just random imported goods.
