Over the weekend, Lidl has seen queues upon queues reaching well into their customer car parks. In a move which could be the most British thing ever saw hundreds of Brits rushing like a flock of seagulls to their nearest store in hope to grab as many of their own brand Aliini prosecco bottles.

At just £3.33 per bottle, and us Brits always loving a bargain, we couldn't just let this deal pass us by without any notice.

This deal was too good to be true that shoppers even began to wait outside the stores as early as 5am, and with the weather forecast looking pretty good for the bank holiday weekend, what else could you wish for than cheap prosecco?!

With the excitement of getting in on this amazing bargain, this soon turned to many disappointed customers as Lidl sold out of their prosecco very quickly, with some selling out within a matter of minutes. Many Lidl stores saw their stock disappear as early as 8:07am, leaving many customers absolutely "fuming."

One Twitter user even went as far to say "it was like black friday for middle class brexiters (sic)."

In a statement a Lidl spokesperson said:
"We always aim to provide our customers with the best quality products at the lowest possible prices and we are pleased that our bank holiday prosecco deal has received so much positive feedback.

"To ensure that as many customers as possible can benefit from the offer, we have limited sales to one case per transaction. We have, however, experience unprecedented demand and sincerely apologise to anyone that hasn't been able to take advantage of the offer on this occasion."

Did you get in on this deal or where you left feeling down and out?

I thought this was hilarious! Some people will go to extraordinary lengths for a "deal". Not my cup of tea personally as i don't like prosecco anyway ;)
