As you all know finding a supplier is easy but selecting the right one is a completely different story. Last year we experienced a scammy practice on the part of an allegedly legit company. That’s why we’d like to share it with some potential buyers so that they can make a judgement about it.

In December 2017 we have found a new supplier - playstart.com, also known as Mediaware to order games with them. As usual, we did a quick research about the company by checking their website, address and online reviews. In the beginning, there was no reason to be suspicious of the company, which was even listed as a “trusted store” at allkeyshop.com (and it’s still there!).

Prior to placing the first order, we asked for the company’s documents. At this point, everything seemed to be legit to us. Nevertheless, to stay safe, we placed a relatively small order for Call of Duty: World War II. After we made a bank transfer (around €800), the company's contact person informed us that they didn’t get the money. Obviously, that was a blatant lie - we checked that with both banks only to learn that the sum was successfully transferred to Mediaware. Needless to say, the ordered games never arrived and all our messages were further ignored. On a side note, we know the company under the name of playstart.com and Mediaware, but they may be using other names as well.

Looking at this case from the perspective teaches us that you should never be too cautious about a new business partner. It’s always a good idea to ask your existing suppliers if a given prospective seller is worthy to include in your portfolio. Then, there’s a greater chance that you’ll minimize the risk of problems further down the line.

Massively sorry to hear about this. Such a shame! How are you proceeding with it?
What some on here have done previously is actually show this URL thread to them, and that has forced them to cough up. No supplier wants their name in the public limelight as being a scam right. Just a thought.

Cody, thank you for a suggestion. We will definitely try that.

Edit: The correct URL address of that scammy company is ******************.
