Singapore is planning to use driverless car on public roads by 2022. The busses will be used to transport the public to their nearby trains and bus station. The busses will initially operate during off peak hours and will become available to less crowded neighborhoods.

Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said, "The autonomous vehicles will greatly enhance the accessibility and connectivity of our public transport system, particularly for the elderly, families with young children and the less mobile.”

Through driverless technology, it will help the country address the land constraint and manpower shortages issues.

There are already at least 10 companies who are testing driverless car technology in a test centre for self-driving vehicle. The centre will allow developers to test how the vehicles will handle road scenarios like pedestrians, heavy rains, aggressive drivers, etc.
