Hi, I have an idea of a business that I'd like to eventually set up with the aim of making profit and earning a wage.
At the moment I'm using social media to see what interest there would be and to get an idea of what works / doesn't work. This is purely for market research at the moment .

I was thinking of registering the name that I want to use on companies house in order to protect it. I would make it dormant as I don't plan on trading for some time yet.
Can anyone advice if I'd have to complete tax returns or any other legal things while the company is dormant? And is there a time limit for which you can keep it dormant?

    Many thanks in advance! :)

For a Dormant company you need to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement (previously annual return). Its an easy form as you just tick the box for dormant as there is no cash flow.
It doesn't cost a lot of money (around £30 I think). I did the same as you to reserve the business name.
