The Process of Importing Goods

    Also if I buy fob will the supplier arrange a freight forwarder
    And if I buy ex works and source a freight forwarder what would I have to do and what would be the freight forwarders told also does the freight forwarder deliver to my factory adress or do I have to arrange seperate transport ?

    Also if I buy ex works what is my responsibility and duty and what is the freight forwarders job and will they deliver too my factory adress or do I have too collect from the port ?

    If buying on ex works terms, the UK forwarder will arrange that for you. Usually easier to buy on FOB terms and let shipper arrange. Also means any liability for goods is on their head until they are loaded on the vessel.

    Will they have it delivered to my factory if it's ex works and will they freight forwarder collect from the factory off origins and take it too the port

    Yes - If EXW then it will be door to door.

    Thank you for taking the time to create this informative post Fardel, it is an interesting and helpful read. I am curious to know if the same rules apply to healthcare products? Is it possible to go through the same steps or would it be better to involve a specialist pharmaceutical warehousing company http://www.alloga-network.com/contract-logistics? A friend has heavily invested in a drug currently in development in the States. It is currently in the approval stages with but he is starting the think about potential shipping issues within Europe. Any info would be much appreciated.
