    Hi Paul,

I have just shared your page so hopefully it will get you some entries. A little tip for you - change the promos picture to something that says 'Enter Here' or 'Win' as this is where you want people to click and enter.

Also have you got any image software that you can use to create a flashy ad for your competition. Mine are by no means professional but I find it helps drive people to the competition by sharing and liking.

    Hi,

    Its actually quite simple.......

    1. Give something away that people think is worth winning
    2. Create a flashy advert that catches peoples eye
    3. Promote your competition everywhere on sites like - Competition club, Send in the troops , small business room etc
    4. Persuade people to share your competition status so that as many people as possible see it
    5. Don't just post about your competition once on your wall, post it every day

Do all this and you should have the recipe for a successful competition :)

Maybe Sephora's Facebook page can give you some inspiration? http://www.facebook.com/Sephora

If you are on Twitter, you can cross promote your FB competitions there. Lots of people looking out for giveaways like Vicky mentioned. You can also try joining Facebook groups to get the word out about your initiatives.

One thing, you don't want to fill your FB page with contest addicts so be sure you are targeting the right audience by doing some research. Be active in other related pages, engage by posting comments and ideas to gain relevant likes and even connect with influential brands you can potentially work with.

P.S. For everyone wanting to run competitions, here's an additional idea as an alternative to paid apps:

Thanks to all who shared their ideas and advice so far :)

On the flashy ad front.. you can get anything like this created on fiverr.com for $5 so about £3.38, they are so quick and creative for that money its a no brainer.

Great ideas Vicky, these are the types of threads that can really make a difference to sellers businesses if they invest some time and effort. Thanks for sharing.
