News Why same-day delivery is important to your eCommerce business

Asos has seen such big sales of the Christmas period, and not just in the UK, but abroad as well.

They saw their sales rise by 30% to £790 million from September to December 2017 compared to the year before, and their UK sales rose by 23% with international up by 35%.

Boohoo also saw great success too, seeing revenue double up to £228m in the same period.

Asos have said this success is down to the launch of their same-day delivery and their "Try Before Your Buy" service.

The chief executive of Asos, Nick Beighton said: "We acquired 2.6millions active customers year-on-year and saw encouraging movements across all key customer KPIs."

Is it about time that other online eCommerce sellers start taking advantage of a same-day delivery service? I understand the likes of small business owners may not be able to cope with the demand, unless of course they're using Amazon FBA, or have their own warehouse and fulfilment options, who may be able to offer this same-day delivery service.

Consumers these days aren't just seeking for the cheapest deals, we're also seeking the fastest delivery options.

Delivery service now has a huge impact on the eCommerce customer experience, and from what we've seen above, if retailers aren't offering up options for same-day delivery during the holiday seasons then they'll be missing to rival retailers and eCommerce sellers like Asos and Boohoo.

Roughly 30% of young people say that same-day delivery is important when making an online purchase, and compared to 5% of older consumers this shows sellers are clearly missing out on a huge target market.

Do you feel compelled to go ahead with a purchase especially if it has same-day delivery? Are you considering offering same-day delivery to your buyers? Let us know!
